MedILS Summer School in Science Communication
18 – 22 July 2022
Mediterranean Institute for Life Sciences, Split, Croatia
“The art of communication is the language of leadership.” – James C. Humes
When we communicate effectively, we increase our impact – our lives and careers thrive. The School has been carefully designed to empower you to improve your career through clear, engaging, and impactful communication. We will guide and train you through practical communication exercises and effective step-by-step tutorials. By inspiring you to think more deeply about your work, we believe to foster a collaborative environment in science and increase knowledge sharing. With this School, we will strengthen the science community and enable it to share knowledge with people beyond the science community in an easy and approachable way.
As Anthony Robbins would say: “To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others.”
Topics:
- Media training or how to effectively communicate your message while keeping the media happy
- Communication and presentation skills within scientific community
- Importance of communicating science in a broader context while reflecting on yourself and the whole society
The School will welcome 20 – 30 participants (young researchers – master students, PhD students, postdocs; but experienced researchers are also welcome!).
Scientific communication: Communicate new scientific knowledge through research papers, conferences, grant applications; oriented towards scientists and technical experts.
Science communication: Communicate to inform and educate science-related topics to a broader audience; oriented towards general public and non-experts.
